Gah! What is it with me and being scared by otherwise nice people in gas masks?

And for the record, yes I went "Gah!" when the thumbnail first loaded. You look creepy.

And gas masks are creepy -- on both sides of them. Outside, it's this dehumanized, faceless figure. Inside, it's a claustraphobic's field-day...

I think I paid $15 for a basic US surplus mask, then just worked it over with spray-on latex, paint, and such. Oh, and the left eye is completely fake, which makes it... er, "less than effective" in high-intensity situations such as, say, a zombie invasion. :)

But it was fun, anyway. It somehow felt like being in a Rammstein video, without the "things spontaneously bursting into flames" part.

Yeah, one of my buddies came to a costume party with an old russian gas mask on as part of his costume. I'm usually impossible to phase with wierd costumes but when I saw him I jumped :lol: He wouldn't wear it for more than the first few minutes to introduce himself though for the reason you mentioned.
